ベネッセアートサイト直島
「ベネッセアートサイト直島」は、瀬戸内海に浮かぶ直島（香川県直島町）を舞台に、ベネッセホールディングスと直島福武美術館財団によって運営されるアート活動の総称です。瀬戸内の風土や歴史、人々との関わりのなかから生み出されたアートワークとの出会いが、人間にとって普遍的な「よく生きる」ことの意味を考え直す契機となるよう、ベネッセハウス、家プロジェクト、そして地中美術館を公開しております。
Benesse Art Site Naoshima, managed by Benesse Holdings, Inc. and Naoshima Fukutake Art Museum Foundation, is a collective term for the art activities that extend throughout the entire Seto Inland area, with Naoshima Island as its center. We aim to become a guidepost to understanding what it means to “live well” (benesse). Currently, Benesse House, Art House Project and Chichu Art Museum are open to public.
Teshima

In the natural landscape of the Seto Inland Sea, a new project will open in October 2010. This new piece of architecture, designed by Ryue Nishizawa, exemplifies his understanding of the history and geographic character of the site. The architect interprets these aspects into the shell structure building which the shape reminds us of water drop. Artist Rei Naito will create a space within, in collaboration with Ryue Nishizawa, that will make the visitor wonder how it would be like the first place where the birth was given on the earth.
直島に隣あう豊島を舞台に、その複雑な地形が作り出す景観、また土地に刻まれた歴史とつながりながら、姿形を容易に掴ませることのない西沢立衛の建築。そして建築と一体のものとして内藤礼によりアート空間として構成されるアートプロジェクトは、2010年10月のオープンを予定しています。
Inujima
犬島
The first phase of this project, Seirensho, opened in May 2008, on the island of Inujima. It is comprised of site specific works by Yukinori Yanagi installed in a building complex designed by Hiroshi Sambuichi. The building has adopted an ecological system developed by Faculty of Environmental Science and Technology, Okayama University, and is situated on the site of a former copper refinery. The project explores, and hopes to stimulate, possible ways to revitalize the regional community.
直島から約17km岡山市に属する犬島で展開予定のアートプロジェクト第1期として、2008年に「精錬所」がオープンしました。銅の精錬所跡地を舞台に、三分一博志が再生した建築と、柳幸典によるアートワーク、岡山大学環境理工学部による環境システムがコラボレート、新たな地域創造の可能性を探っていきます。
